HOW TO USE THE DAYS WITH JESUS PRACTICES

There are a few ways you can approach this planning process to help you spend your days with Jesus

WORK YOUR WAY THROUGH ONE AT A TIME

Options

  • Start with the first section and work your way through as you are ready. After you finish the preparation sections, you may want to get solid on each of the following practices before you move onto the next. So, for example, after completing the first two foundational preparation sections, you could start the third section, “Evenings and Nights with Jesus” and integrate that into your life. When you feel ready, you could move on to the next section, “Waking Up with Jesus” and add that into your life, and so on.

  • Pick the one that interests you most and start there, moving on when you are ready to add something new.

With these options you start with one and keeping adding on when you feel solid.

SCHEDULE A MINI RETREAT FOR YOURSELF

Whether on your own, or with friends, family, or a small group, go through all of the practices in order consecutively. This works well starting on a Friday evening (or whatever day is before your day off) and continuing until early afternoon on Saturday. Starting in the evening is suitable because it has you experiencing the evening prayer and meditation guides at night and the dawn prayer and meditation guides in the morning. This can be done in your own home, or off-site at a cabin, hotel, or retreat center. Here is a sample schedule. Modify as you would like.
